Nissan Stories: Miss Fairlady

This week, our blog is dedicated to an interesting piece of history from Nissan. We all know about traditions like the Miss America pageant, “Barker’s Beauties” from The Price Is Right, and the Doublemint Twins, but did you know that there was, and still is, a similar position in Japan, working for Nissan?

This position originated in 1963 as “Miss Fairlady,” named after the Nissan Fairlady, a model of the time. These women were chosen in a manner similar to that of a pageant and were employed on the showroom floor to demonstrate and explain the various vehicle models. In addition to being beautiful and having the right image, they also had to have an extensive brand knowledge and be able to answer customers’ questions about the vehicles.

The Miss Fairlady position was modeled on the “Datsun Demonstrator” position of the 1930s, where women were employed in much the same way. Initially, there were only five women chosen for the Miss Fairlady job, but that number has steadily increased since the 1960s to 27 women. Initially, the position was created to market the Datsun Fairlady 1500, but due to the success of the program they branched out and now represent the full spectrum of Nissan vehicles.

Not only do the women of the program go on to have great careers, their daughters are often encouraged to apply for the position as well. However, the training to be a Miss Fairlady is incredibly rigorous, including daily training, attendance at important special events such as the Tokyo Motor Show, and even shareholder meetings.

The position is now officially referred to as the Nissan PR Specialist, but it still continues to be known as “Miss Fairlady.” Women who are graduates of the program often go on to successful careers, and the women currently in the program are enthusiastic about the work they do and the fact that it is important professional experience for their futures.

Miss Fairlady has been around for over 50 years, but the name and the customer-facing aspect of the position are pretty much the only things that have stayed the same. Women are now trained as true professionals in not only their knowledge of the Nissan lineup but their presentation and communication skills are honed and their entrepreneurial abilities are explored. We’re excited to learn about this position as it moves into the future alongside Nissan!

Inside Nissan Business & Fleet

Shelving, Storage, Custom Graphics and More: Inside Nissan Business & Fleet

A work vehicle has a different job than the car sitting in most driveways. It might need room for tools, equipment that stays organized between appointments, enough capability to reach a jobsite, or simply a professional way to get employees where they need to go every day. Nissan Business & Fleet is designed around those differences, with work-ready vehicles, available upfits, fleet incentives, and support for businesses that depend on their vehicles to keep moving. At Loughead Nissan, we can help local business owners explore Nissan vehicles that make sense for the work they actually do. Start by browsing our New Nissan Inventory or exploring the Nissan Model Showroom to compare options before visiting us at 755 S. Chester Rd, Rt 320 in Swarthmore, PA. A Nissan Fleet Doesn't Have to Mean a Parking Lot Full of Identical Trucks The right business vehicle depends heavily on the business. A contractor carrying equipment to jobsites has different priorities than a home healthcare company traveling between appointments. A salesperson spending hours on the road may need something entirely different from a business regularly hauling supplies. That's why Nissan Business & Fleet extends across trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and sedans. A Nissan Frontier can provide pickup capability for businesses that regularly move equipment or supplies, while vehicles like the Rogue can offer enclosed cargo space and everyday versatility. Other Nissan models can make sense for employees whose work puts mileage ahead of heavy hauling. Instead of starting with the assumption that every business needs the same vehicle, you can use our Nissan Model Showroom to compare the lineup and narrow down what actually fits your operation. Shelving, Drawers, Cargo Storage: Your Work Vehicle Can Be Built Around the Job This may be one of the most useful parts of Nissan Business & Fleet for businesses carrying tools or equipment every day. Available third-party upfits can transform a vehicle around the work happening inside it. Nissan highlights options including custom shelving and drawer systems that can help organize equipment, make better use of available cargo space, and keep frequently used items accessible. An upfit can include accessories or modifications such as shelving, roof units, cooling equipment, hangers, and other job-specific additions. A Nissan Commercial Sales Manager or dealer can help identify vehicles, accessories, and available upfits suited to a particular business. For a contractor, technician, service company, or another operation where the vehicle effectively doubles as a mobile workspace, that customization can be far more useful than adapting an ordinary vehicle after the fact. Your Nissan Can Wear the Company Logo, Too The vehicle pulling into a customer's driveway or parking outside a jobsite is often one of the most visible pieces of a local business. Nissan Business & Fleet offers custom graphics options that can turn fleet vehicles into recognizable extensions of the company itself. Businesses can add their branding to compatible Nissan fleet vehicles, whether that's a single work truck carrying the company logo or a larger group of branded vehicles operating throughout the region. Nissan also offers Ship-Thru customization opportunities for fleet customers, providing another way to coordinate certain vehicle modifications before those vehicles enter regular service. The Nissan Frontier Is Especially Interesting for Businesses That Need a Truck For businesses that haul equipment, materials, or gear, the Nissan Frontier brings pickup capability into the fleet conversation. Beyond the truck itself, Nissan offers potential customization opportunities specifically geared toward commercial use. Available equipment can help organize and stabilize cargo, while accessories such as a sliding bed extender can make the bed more adaptable to different loads. Eligible large-fleet customers adding a Nissan Frontier may also qualify for up to a $500 Truck Upfit Allowance through Nissan's Commercial Upfit Allowance Program. Qualifying customers can use the program toward eligible cargo-management equipment or Nissan Extended Services North America maintenance plans. If Frontier sounds like the right starting point, browse our New Nissan Frontier Inventory to see what's currently available at Loughead Nissan. Keeping Fleet Vehicles Working Matters Just as Much as Buying Them A business vehicle sitting out of service isn't doing much for the business. Nissan's fleet support includes Priority Service for Nissan fleet vehicles, helping businesses get necessary maintenance addressed while minimizing unnecessary downtime. Roadside Assistance is also available to provide additional support when something happens away from the shop. Regular maintenance still matters, particularly when a work vehicle is accumulating miles every day. Our Nissan Service Center can help with ongoing maintenance and service as your business continues putting its Nissan vehicles to work. Nissan Business & Fleet Includes Offers and Financing Opportunities Buying vehicles for a business comes with a different set of considerations than shopping for a personal vehicle. Nissan Business & Fleet includes available incentives and financing opportunities designed specifically around eligible commercial customers. Depending on the vehicle and program qualifications, businesses may have access to fleet incentives, upfit allowances, and cargo-management solutions that can help make a vehicle better suited to its intended work. Our team at Loughead Nissan can help you explore available programs and determine which opportunities may apply to your business. You can also use our Payment Calculator to start estimating vehicle costs before your visit. What If You're Shopping for a Pre-Owned Nissan for Your Business? Not every business needs to start with a brand-new vehicle. Loughead Nissan also offers Certified Pre-Owned Nissan Inventory for shoppers who want a pre-owned vehicle with the additional requirements and benefits of Nissan's certification program. You can explore our Certified Pre-Owned Altima Inventory, Certified Pre-Owned Rogue Inventory, and Certified Pre-Owned Sentra Inventory depending on the type of vehicle your work requires. If the exact vehicle you're looking for isn't currently available, our Find My Car tool can also help you tell us what you need. For businesses balancing vehicle costs against dozens of other operating expenses, those additional shopping paths can be worth exploring before making a decision. Find the Nissan That Fits Your Business at Loughead Nissan The useful thing about Nissan Business & Fleet is that the conversation can begin with the work rather than the vehicle. Tell us what you're carrying, where you're driving, how the vehicle will be used, and what your business needs from it. From there, we can help you explore Nissan models, available customization options, fleet programs, and financing possibilities that make sense for the job. Visit Loughead Nissan at 755 S. Chester Rd, Rt 320 in Swarthmore, PA to explore your options. You can also browse our New Nissan Inventory, compare vehicles through our Nissan Model Showroom, explore Credit Solutions, or contact our team to start building a vehicle solution around your business.

2027 Nissan Z

If the 2027 Nissan Z Looks Familiar, That's Exactly the Point

Some automotive throwbacks are obvious. The 2027 Nissan Z takes a more interesting approach. For its latest updates, Nissan went digging through more than five decades of Z history and brought back details that longtime enthusiasts might recognize before they can quite place them. The redesigned grille recalls the original Datsun 240Z. New wheels look back to the 1980s 300ZX. There's even a new green-and-tan color combination that wouldn't feel out of place several generations ago. The 2027 Nissan Z is expected to arrive in summer 2026, and while we wait for it here at Loughead Nissan, you can explore our New Nissan Inventory and current Nissan Z inventory to see where more than 50 years of sports-car history has brought us so far. Look at the Original 240Z, Then Look at That Grille The face of the 2027 Z has changed, but Nissan didn't have to look very far for inspiration. A new horizontal bar divides the front grille, creating a split design inspired by the original 240Z, known internally as the S30. Nissan managed to make the visual change while maintaining the cooling requirements of the current Z, giving the sports car a stronger connection to its earliest predecessor without compromising modern functionality. There's another small historical detail sitting right above it. A Z emblem now replaces the Nissan emblem, following a tradition seen on the S30, S130, Z31, and Z32 generations. Those who know their Z history will probably spot it immediately. Everyone else just gets a very good-looking front end. The New Wheels Go Back to the '80s The 1980s get their turn on the 2027 Z Performance. New 19-inch RAYS® alloy wheels feature a ten-spoke, star-like arrangement inspired by the machined wheels available on the Z31-generation 300ZX during the mid-1980s. Nissan didn't simply reproduce an old wheel, either. The thinner spokes give the design a contemporary look while revealing the Z Performance's large brake rotors and red calipers behind them. The wheels come wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza® S007 high-performance tires, with the rear wheels measuring half an inch wider than the fronts for additional grip. Shinkai Green Goes All the Way Back to the First Z This might be our favorite callback. The 2027 Nissan Z introduces Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic, a rich new exterior color reminiscent of Grand Prix Green offered on the first-generation S30. "Shinkai" translates to "deep sea" in Japanese, which gives you a pretty good idea of the depth Nissan was after. Creating it was more complicated than choosing an old paint swatch. Because green automotive paints can be susceptible to fading from prolonged sun exposure, Nissan engineers combined ultra-fine yellow and blue pigments that visually create green while offering greater resistance to fading. A subtle metallic flake adds depth and helps emphasize the Z's body lines. Shinkai Green will be available on Sport and Performance grades. Yes, You Can Pair the Green with a Tan Interior Nissan went one step further. Z Performance models will offer a new tan interior, another deliberate reference to the color palettes found in the original S30 generation. Pair it with Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic and you get one of the most classically sports-car combinations imaginable: deep green paint over a tan cabin. The tan interior contrasts with black materials across the upper dashboard and doors and can also be paired with Black Diamond Pearl, Bayside Blue Quad Coat, Pearl White TriCoat, and Solid Red. For drivers who love vintage Z cars but still want everything that comes with buying a modern one, this may be one of the most compelling combinations in the 2027 lineup. Even Starting the Car Comes with a Little Z History One of the smallest 2027 changes might get the biggest reaction from serious Z fans. Start a 2027 Z Sport or Performance and its standard digital meter display now runs through an animation featuring previous generations of the Nissan Z. It's essentially a tiny retrospective every time you start the car, acknowledging the models that led to the one you're sitting in. NISMO models retain their own unique startup animation. It's an unnecessary detail in the best possible way. Nobody needs a sports car to show them its family tree before they drive away, but the people who care about that family tree are exactly the people Nissan designed it for. The 2027 Nissan Z Still Has Some New Tricks Nissan hasn't spent all its time looking backward. The 2027 Z also brings meaningful performance updates, including larger-diameter shock absorbers on Performance models. Perhaps most exciting for driving enthusiasts, the Z NISMO gains a manual transmission option for 2027. Taken together, the changes show what Nissan seems to understand particularly well about this car. The Z doesn't need to abandon its past to move forward. Its history is part of the reason people care about it in the first place. Follow the 2027 Nissan Z with Loughead Nissan The new model is expected to arrive in summer 2026. In the meantime, explore the Nissan Z models currently available at Loughead Nissan, browse our complete New Nissan Inventory, or check our New Vehicle Specials as you compare your options. Visit Loughead Nissan at 755 S. Chester Rd, Rt 320, Swarthmore, PA 19081 to talk with our team or schedule a test drive. We're proud to help drivers throughout Swarthmore, Concordville, Drexel Hill, Philadelphia, Wilmington, and the surrounding communities find a Nissan that's worth getting excited about.

2027 Nissan Frontier Sport Edition

The 2027 Nissan Frontier Sport Edition Keeps the Truck Formula Refreshingly Simple

A lot of new trucks are getting bigger, softer, more expensive, and more complicated. The 2027 Nissan Frontier Sport Edition goes in the other direction. It takes the Frontier’s familiar midsize truck foundation, adds a tougher look, brings all-terrain tires to the popular SV grade, and keeps the naturally aspirated V6 that many truck buyers still appreciate. DPCars described the Sport Edition as a truck that leans into “old school pickup character,” and that feels like the right read. This is not a truck for someone who wants every luxury feature in the catalog. It is for the driver who wants a straightforward midsize pickup with enough attitude, capability, and personality to feel special without going all the way to the PRO-4X. At Loughead Nissan in Swarthmore, PA, the 2027 Nissan Frontier Sport Edition gives local truck shoppers a new reason to look closely at the Frontier lineup. Why the 2027 Nissan Frontier Sport Edition Hits a Sweet Spot The Frontier Sport Edition is positioned between the popular SV grade and the more off-road-focused PRO-4X. Plenty of truck shoppers want something tougher than a basic street-oriented pickup, but they may not need the locking rear differential, upgraded suspension, or full off-road package that comes with a PRO-4X. The Sport Edition gives them a more aggressive stance, trail-ready details, and a stronger visual identity while keeping the Frontier’s everyday usefulness intact. DPCars made a similar point, noting that Nissan seems to be targeting drivers who want a tougher-looking truck without stepping all the way up to the highest off-road package. The Sport Edition Looks Different Without Trying Too Hard Some appearance packages feel like stickers and wishful thinking. Nissan adds black off-road-style 17-inch wheels, 265/70R17 Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires, an aluminum skid plate, LED fog lights, front accent lighting, black exterior details, and Sport badging. The yellow accents inside and out give the truck a little more personality without making it feel like a costume. That matters because truck owners notice details. They notice the wheels. They notice the stance. They notice whether the interior feels like someone bothered to make it different. The Old-School V6 Is Still Part of the Appeal One of the most interesting things about the Frontier is what Nissan did not change. The 2027 Nissan Frontier continues with a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 engine rated at 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. In a market full of downsized engines, turbochargers, and hybrid systems, that straightforward V6 setup has become part of the Frontier’s identity. DPCars called this out directly, describing the Frontier as “refreshingly simple” at a time when many trucks are becoming increasingly complicated. For truck buyers who like predictable power, familiar response, and fewer layers between the pedal and the engine, that simplicity is not outdated. It is part of the point. All-Terrain Tires Give the SV Grade More Personality The all-terrain tires may end up being one of the Sport Edition’s most useful upgrades. Nissan is bringing 265/70R17 Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires to the SV-based Sport Edition, giving drivers more confidence for campsites, job sites, muddy access roads, trailheads, and light off-road use. That does not turn the Sport Edition into a PRO-4X replacement, and it does not need to. It gives drivers a better starting point. For someone who wants to use their truck for work during the week and hobbies on the weekend, that kind of factory-equipped tire upgrade is easier to appreciate than another screen or badge. The 2027 Frontier Sport Edition Still Has Real Truck Usefulness The Sport Edition is not just about looks. The 2027 Nissan Frontier offers a towing rating of up to 7,150 pounds when properly equipped, along with a payload capacity of up to 1,590 pounds in select configurations. Trailer Sway Control comes standard on SV and PRO grades, helping support drivers who tow small trailers, equipment, boats, or weekend gear. The Frontier also keeps the truck lineup easy to understand, with S, SV, PRO-X, and PRO-4X grades, plus packages like Sport Edition, Dark Armor, and PRO-4X R for buyers who want a more specific personality. That clarity is refreshing. The Frontier does not feel like it is trying to become everything at once. Safety and Connectivity Keep the Frontier Current Simple does not mean bare-bones. Every 2027 Nissan Frontier includes standard driver-assistance features like Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Driver Alertness, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Sonar System, Rear Automatic Braking, High Beam Assist, and Intelligent Cruise Control. Inside, Frontier offers a standard 8-inch touchscreen, an available 12.3-inch touchscreen on SV and PRO grades, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ on SV and PRO grades, and up to four USB ports. That mix makes sense for the Frontier Sport Edition buyer. Keep the truck straightforward, but do not make it feel dated. Why the Frontier Sport Edition Feels Right for This Moment The 2027 Nissan Frontier Sport Edition arrives at a time when many trucks seem determined to become luxury vehicles first and pickups second. That is exactly why this one stands out. It has a naturally aspirated V6, a useful midsize footprint, all-terrain tires, rugged styling, practical towing capability, and enough personality to feel different from the standard SV. It gives truck buyers something that feels honest, useful, and ready to be personalized. Pricing will be announced closer to the 2027 Frontier’s arrival at dealerships later this summer. Drivers near Swarthmore, Philadelphia, Media, Drexel Hill, and Wilmington can contact Loughead Nissan at 755 S. Chester Rd, Rt 320, Swarthmore, PA 19081 to start the conversation. Some trucks try to impress people with complexity. The Frontier Sport Edition feels more interested in being the kind of truck people actually want to use.
