Spring is here and we’re all looking to spend more time out in the sun! That means the roads are going to be a bit busier, and not just with other cars! Motorcyclists will be out and about as well! As a driver, it’s essential to take precautions to keep yourself and other road users safe, including motorcyclists. Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than cars, making them more vulnerable to accidents. Here is Loughead Nissan’s list of tips to keep motorcyclists safe on the roads:

- Check your mirrors frequently: Make it a habit to check your mirrors frequently, especially when changing lanes or turning. This can help you spot motorcycles that may be in your blind spots.
- Keep a safe distance: Motorcycles can stop much faster than cars, so keep a safe following distance of at least three to four seconds to avoid rear-ending them.
- Use your turn signals: Always use your turn signals when changing lanes or turning to alert other drivers, including motorcyclists, of your intentions.
- Avoid distractions: Distracted driving is dangerous for all road users, including motorcyclists. Avoid texting, eating, or anything else that takes your attention away from the road.
