So take a peek below and if you need help topping off your fluid levels, schedule a service appointment today and we can get your vehicle back into tip-top shape in no time!
Fluid Levels:
- Oil
- What it does: cools your engine, lubricates moving parts, keeps moving parts clean
- What to do: change it regularly (dealer recommendation) and check it monthly
- Coolant
- What it does: regulates your vehicle’s temperature.
- Where to find it: in a reservoir near the radiator.
- What to do: if the level is low (level is indicated on the reservoir) take the vehicle to the shop to get coolant topped up.
- Power Steering Fluid
- What it does: helps you steer the vehicle
- Where to find it: a reservoir at the base if windshield.
- What to do: same as above, if the level is low take your vehicle to the shop to get the fluid topped up.
- Brake Fluid
- What it does: helps braking mechanisms work properly
- What to do: if the level is chronically low, your brakes could be wearing out.
- Windshield Washer Fluid
- What it does: helps clean windshield of dust, debris, bug guts, etc.
- What to do: if you run out, get more at your local gas station and just refill the clearly labeled tank.

Have you planned your family’s summer getaway yet? I’m sure you have, and now that summer is finally here I’m sure you’ll be hitting the road more often than before! Summer road trips can be fun, regardless of how far you go. But when you have little ones it can sometimes be difficult to actually enjoy the ride. It is no secret that little ones can become antsy very easily or bored which always leads to the infamous question “are we there yet?” To avoid this frustration, we have compiled some fun activities and ideas to help keep your kiddos entertained the whole time, keeping your ride smoothly and stress-free! We do suggest planning out when you’ll be doing each activity to make sure you don’t run out of activities too quickly, depending on how long your trip will be.
- Combat boredom by making your own “travel binder.” Fill it with coloring pages, word searches, bingo games, etc, that way the kids will be entertained with a handful of different activities.
- Another way to fight boredom is technology, whether it be a learning toy, an iPad to watch movies or play games, an iPod to listen to music or even an audible book!
- Bring lots of snacks! Kids get hungry when they get bored which can easily turn into them becoming hangry/cranky. That’s the last thing you want to deal with on a long trip, so pack a good mix of healthy snacks and a couple of their favorite treats for when they get really antsy!
- Another fun activity is having a countdown. Kids love countdowns of any kind, so turn it into a game! Give them a time limit and an activity, remind them of how much time they have left and watched them focus on finishing in time! This is perfect because it keeps them entertained, it lets them know how much longer till we are there, and it keeps your drive easy!
- For when all else fails to prepare a “Are we there yet bag? When you’re coming up on a near breakdown pull out the bag and tell them if they behave they get pick a prize out if it! This will easily buy you another half hour and keep your children excited and entertained with what they might get next

Wipe Your Worry & Replace Your Wipers!
Spring is in full bloom and there is no hiding the fact that the rain is falling! Although the rain brings beautiful flowers, trees, grass, and everything else, rain isn’t our favorite weather condition, especially when your wipers are not in tip-top shape!
Wiper blades are extremely important to the driver’s safety, yet many of us tend to overlook maintenance for our wipers. This might be because many of us don’t know when it is appropriate to change our wiper blades. Well, no more! This week we are bringing you all you need to know about your wiper blades including what to look for when the time comes and how to prolong their lifespan! So go ahead, take a peek below and see if it might be time to change your wipers!
If you find that your wipers are in need of replacing and you’re looking to replace with genuine Nissan wipers, be sure to stop in or order your wipers online right on our site!
What to look for:
- Broken frame: detachment from frame arms
- Metal corrosion: specifically at joints and claws
- Cracks, tears, or missing pieces in the rubber
- Check squeegee’s wiping edge, if it is rounded the wiper blade will be unable to make strong contact with the windshield
Maintenance tips:
- Wiper blades should be checked at least every six months and changed out once a year. Weather conditions play a vital role in the life of your wiper blades and can sometimes cause them to deteriorate at a quickened pace.
- Check over both the squeegee and the metal frames to avoid common problems like streaking, skipping, splitting, and clattering. By doing this you will avoid reduced visibility when weather strikes.
These tips can help your blades:
- Clean your windshield each time you fill up your gas tank
- Gently wipe off any dirt or oil with a damp towel that has built up on the rubber squeegee.

Friendly people, nice area, good service. They did what they could to help me in short notice and I left in a brand new Nissan Rogue. I was presented with all different colors and models which really helped me make a decision. I was fully aware of everything the whole time which I liked the most.

Just leased a new Rogue with the help of Luke Mcmenamin. I have dealt with other Nissan dealerships and they pale in comparison to Loughead. It has a warm family feel and everyone was friendly and helpful. Luke made the whole experience so painless and easy. I would highly recommend Loughead Nissan and Luke!
How To Avoid Hydroplaning
As we get ready to say goodbye to March, we get ready to say hello to April and we all know the saying “April showers bring May flowers,” so it’s pretty safe that some rain storms are coming our way. Whether the storms you run into are crazy or just light, traveling in the rain can become very dangerous. In fact, the first ten minutes of light rain can be the most dangerous, because when light rain mixes with oil and residue on the road’s surface it creates a slippery condition that can cause your vehicle to slide. Yes, traveling in a storm where the rain is coming down so hard you can’t see is dangerous, but traveling in light rain can be just as dangerous.
With that in mind, we are talking about hydroplaning and how to avoid it. What is Hydroplaning? Well, hydroplaning is the skidding or sliding of your vehicle’s tires across a wet surface…similar to sliding on ice. The same idea is that it’s hard to get control of your vehicle because your tires don’t have anything to grip. Pretty scary, right? That’s why we want you to take a few minutes to read our helpful tips for avoiding hydroplaning below!
How To Avoid Hydroplaning:
- Keep your tires properly inflated
- Rotate and replace tires when necessary
- Slow down when roads are wet: the faster you drive, the harder it is for your tires to scatter the water
- Stay away from puddles and standing water
- Avoid driving in outer lanes where water tends to accumulate
- Try to drive in the tire tracks left by the cars in front of you
- Turn off cruise control
- Drive in a lower gear
- Avoid hard braking
- Try not to make sharp or quick turns
