The 2017 Nissan Maxima recently completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) new car assessment program and its top performance in each of their crashworthiness tests earned it a five-star overall safety rating. Overall, this model earned fives stars in each of the tests including the side, front, and rollover crash tests in order to earn this highest-possible rating.

This vehicle is offered with many standard safety features such as vehicle dynamic control, traction control, six airbags, brake assist, and antilock brakes. Additional systems such as blind-spot warning system, rear cross-traffic alert system, Driver Attention Alert system, and Forward-collision alert system are available on some of the higher trim levels.
