You are constantly driving, constantly traveling, whether it is to grandma’s house or across the United States, you never know what might happen or what you might need in the car. I have a story, not just any story, but a real life horror story about what happens when you’re not prepared for your road trip.

My father, my mother, my baby brother, my older sister, and finally me planned a road trip from Pennsylvania all the way to Washington DC. We were ready for days now just waiting for that Friday morning to come so we can all pile into our car.

It was Thursday night and no one could sleep not even my dad, and usually, he’s the first one out. We decided to leave a tad bit earlier, when I say a tad bit, I mean like five hours earlier. The playlist was ready, the snacks were all made and packed where my brother couldn’t reach, pillows were stuffed in the back seats, and the car was filled with gas. We left, most of us napped, except my brother and my dad who was driving.

We took a break at the rest stop where my brother had to run in and use the men’s room. As he came out all we saw was his arm full of blood and my dad carrying him to the car. Besides wanting to barf, I knew we had a first aid kit handy in the trunk, so I reached for it but I could not find it. I thought maybe it was stuck under the snacks or maybe mom moved it to the front. As we scurried to find this first aid, mom decided to tell us that she removed it from the car because it was taking up space.

MIND BLOWN!

What mom!? Out of all the things that are useless, you decide the first aid is the thing you should take out of the car? Holy cow.

We paused our trip, found the nearest hospital and took my brother there. Someone in the restroom decided it was a good idea to take the hinges off the bathroom door while also breaking the door so partial wood was sticking out which struck him in his arm. Oh, the blood.

After the hospital, dad was furious at mom, who felt bad as it was. We all came to the conclusion that out of all the “important” things that we need in the car, a first aid kit was number one! Not only did our trip get delayed but my brother almost lost his arm. Okay, so I’m a tad dramatic, maybe if we had the first aid kit, I wouldn’t have to be!

Spring Clean Your Car With A These Helpful Tips

Spring is in the air, which means that it is officially time to start spring cleaning! For most people, this means going through their closet and cleaning out old clothes, and removing their winter apparel to make room for their spring/summer wardrobe. For others, it means just airing out rooms and clearing away the dust that has built up due to the windows and doors being shut tight for the last few months. However, while you are taking care of your house and your fashion, be sure to keep your vehicle in mind as well.

The various seasons have different effects on your vehicle which is why it is important to give several specific areas a once-over at the start of a new season. We have a few tips to help you get the spring cleaning process started to check them out below and look out for more in one of our future blogs.

1.) Tire Tread – While you may think that having a good tread depth is most important in Winter due to the traction needed for driving through roads covered in ice and snow, proper traction is actually essential all-year-long. While the snow may be (hopefully) behind us, we have to be ready for all of those April showers which are sure to make the roads more slippery. Therefore, you will need to check the tread depth of your tires to ensure that they are still up to par because otherwise, you are running the risk of hydroplaning the next time you are out for a drive on a rainy day.

2.) Air Pressure – Another step in preparing your tires to (literally) hit the road this Spring is making sure that they have the proper level of air pressure. During the Winter your tires will contract and loose tire pressure and then, in the spring and summer, when the temperature is warmer, they will expand and the tire pressure will increase. Due to this change, you should remember to periodically check the tire pressure to make sure that it has not increased past the maximum recommended for your tires. Over inflation will cause the tires to wear unevenly and can even leave you at risk for a dangerous blowout. So once the warmer weather finally arrives be sure to make sure that the expanded tires are not inflated more than they should be.

3.) Prepare Windshields – Since with Spring comes rain you want to make sure that visibility will always be at its best. One way to do that is to treat your windshield with rain repellent. Using this treatment will create a coating on the window that will cause the raindrops to bead when they hit it and quickly roll off to keep your view drop and streak free.

4.) Evaluate Wiper Blades – The Winter can be rough on wiper blades which is why you will want to look them over at the start of spring. Properly working wiper blades are also essential to keeping a high level of visibility while driving in the rain so if the rough conditions of Winter have worn them down then be sure to replace them.

The Nissan Rogue Dogue Makes Traveling With Pets More Efficient Than Ever

Anyone who has ever traveled with their pet knows that while you love having their company, it can be quite a hassle to make sure that you have everything they need for a long trip. However, since most of us would prefer to bring our furry companions along rather than leave them behind having a vehicle that can accommodate their unique needs is essential for any devoted pet parent. I mean after all, you want your pooch to be as protected and comfortable as the rest of your passengers so that everyone can relax and enjoy the ride. Well Nissan agrees with this too, which is why they have worked to create a special new customized vehicle called the Rogue Dogue!

“For all of the dog lovers at Nissan, the Rogue Dogue is so much fun – the equivalent, I guess you could say, of riding with your head out the window if you were a dog,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc.“Of course, we also take pets’ safety very seriously, which is why the Rogue Dogue includes secure leash fastening attachments in the second row and rear cargo area – along with numerous other features designed to make family travel with dogs more enjoyable for everyone.”

The all-new Rogue Dogue was officially put on display at the 2017 New York International Auto Show where Nissan was able to showcase the unique features of this model that make it the perfect option for pet parents who love to travel. It has been fully customized to offer pets and their owners more travel convenience so that you can live the on-the-go lifestyle that you want without having to worry about remembering to pack everything that your dog might need for the trip.

The decision to create this all-new model was made after Nissan conducted a survey with dog owning car shoppers. In this survey, over 75 percent of the owners admitted that having optional features that were designed specifically to accommodate their dog would have an impact on their decision of which vehicle to purchase. The survey also revealed that the features dog owners found most desirable included a clip-in harness hook, a non-spill water dispenser, and a slide-away dog ramp. All three of these features are offered on the Rogue Dogue along with a variety of additional options such as 360-degree dog shower with a 10 gallon pressurized water reserve, an integrated dog drying system with compressed heated air dryer and outside hose attachment, dog first aid kit, removable pet partition, a side wall mounted poop bag dispenser, second-row fog hammock, and more.

Keep checking back here for more information on the exciting Rogue Dogue! We will be sure to keep our pet parents informed on the progress of this vehicle that offers everything you need for the entire family!

The annual “12 Best Family Cars of 2017” list from Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com has been released and the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder earned a spot for the fourth year in a row. Each year KBB.com editors put this list together by determining which models available in the market today offer features and capabilities that “best meet the needs of today’s families.”

“In a 3-row SUV like Pathfinder, access to the last row is critical in everyday use, both getting in and out of and negotiating around a child seat in the 2nd row,” said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. “Our innovative 2nd row seat system, which tilts forward with a child seat still in place1, gives Pathfinder a big advantage over other 3-row designs, even before shoppers get behind the wheel for a test drive.”

Two specific factors of the 2017 Pathfinder that editors were especially impressed with included its engine and EZ Flex Seating System™ with LATCH AND GLIDE™. This vehicle comes equipped with a 284 horsepower 3.5-liter Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) V6 Engine that, when properly equipped, offer a class-leading max towing capacity of 6,000-pounds. The EZ Flex Seating System™ with LATCH AND GLIDE™ is ideal for loading and unloading families as it makes it easier to access the third row with a child safety seat installed thanks to the second row tilt and glide seat.

Last month, Nissan announced that they would be showcasing their support of collegiate sports through a series of new videos entitled Fan Fueled Traditions. That initial announcement came with the release of the first five videos in the series and now, as we head into the second month of 2017, an additional six videos have been released with even more to come. Each of these videos feature a long-held fan tradition from a different college or university. In each spot, we see the fans of these teams gather together to proudly participate in this tradition as they cheer on their team on the football field. Each video also features interviews with fans, players, and coaches discussing the history of this tradition and what it means to them to be part of it. You can see all of the videos in the series by visiting the official Nissan YouTube page and check out the videos below to see the Washington State University Butch’s Bones, UC Berkeley’s Card Stunts, and TCU’s Frog Horn!
