The holiday season is all about giving and Nissan is looking to share in the spirit of the season by teaming up with Toys for Tots! As part of the gift-giving season and Nissan’s promotion of Star Wars, Nissan is looking to fill Santa’s bag with Star Wars toys that will be provided to children in need. Right now, anyone who wishes to participate in the “battle for good” can visit the Nissan Rogue Toy Drive Amazon Wish List and select from hundreds of toys that are available. Then, for every toy that is donated Nissan will match the donation, giving away up to $150,000 in toys and/or cash to support the effort of Toys for Tots!

“Nissan’s alliance with Lucasfilm and Star Wars reminds us that everybody has the choice to be a hero, and the holidays are a time when many children can benefit from the generosity of everyday heroes,” said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, Marketing Communications & Media, Nissan North America, Inc. “This toy drive is a way of bringing the magic and excitement of Star Wars to kids, so that they may experience the joy of Christmas and a message of hope.”

MotorWeek has released yet other of their famous Retro Review videos and this time that are taking us back to the 80’s with a look at the 1986 Nissan Stanza Wagon. It has been thirty years since this model was first released and it is safe to say that SUVs and crossovers have come a long way in that time. Still, when this model was first released, it was a big step forward for the brand as it offered a vehicle that provided increased interior and cargo space thanks to a lack of pillars separating the front and back as well as van side sliding doors which were a big advancement for a personal vehicle at the time.

Hear even more about this model in the full Retro Review which you can see in the video below!

When Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico back in 2005, Habitat for Humanity jumped in to help with the disaster relief efforts and that is when a partnership between them and Nissan was formed. In order to assist Habitat for Humanity with their efforts during the Hurricane relief Nissan donated 50 trucks. In the more than ten years since, Nissan has continued this relationship donating 88 vehicles and logging in over 80,000 volunteer hours by assisting in the build for 71 homes across the country.

Just recently, Nissan announced that they would be continuing that partnership by pledging a further ten years of volunteer service along with a $1 million donation. On the heels of that announcement, Nissan helped to organize a six-day accelerated build for a house in Nashville. They gathered a group of 50 journalists from all over the U.S. to participate in this project which was dubbed “The House the Media Built.”

“Nissan began its relationship with Habitat for Humanity more than a decade ago with a donation of $1 million, 50 TITAN trucks and an abundance of employee volunteer time following Hurricane Katrina,” said Dan Bedore, director, Nissan Division Communications. “This relationship goes to the heart of our values, not only as a corporate citizen, but as neighbors in the communities in which we live, work and serve.”

Hear more about this project and Nissan’s relationship with Habitat for Humanity in the video above.
